About Our School
Lincoln Elementary School
Lincoln is a PreK-5 school nestled in a central residential neighborhood of Dubuque, IA, along the Mississippi River, where it is one of 13 elementary schools in the Dubuque Community School District. The student population reflects a wide range of economic and experiential backgrounds. To help meet students’ needs, we also have resource support through Special Education, a Behavior Program, Title 1, Technology/Library Resources, ELL (English Language Learners) program, a Vision Program for sight impaired students and a Gifted/Talented program.
Student achievement is measured using teacher observation, portfolio development, self evaluation, standardized tests, and subject area tests. Leadership opportunities for students include: safety patrol, band, orchestra, choir, morning greeters, and Student Leadership Team.
Leader in Me School
The Lincoln Staff is committed through our daily work to inspire and motivate students towards their personal best. This year we are joining educators from all over the globe who are committed to educating the whole child by creating leaders, one child at a time. Last spring we shared with parents that we would be involved with The Leader In Me, based in the “Seven Habits of Highly Effective People” by Stephen Covey. We know the tremendous impact we are in the position to have on students, and intend to model these principles with our students and one another.
Green Vision School
Lincoln was named a Green Vision Education School in 2008 and earned the designation as a “Litter-Free” School in 2010 from “Keep Dubuque County Clean and Green”. The litter-free designation includes our entire campus (both inside our school building and our outside grounds). We received the Conservation Award in 2011 from the Dubuque County Conservation Board and Dubuque Metropolitan Area Solid Waste Agency. What this means is that our school community cares about the environment, acts to protect our valuable natural resources, and is committed to helping our students, staff and families to improve in our practices of pollution prevention, recycling, energy efficiency, conservation and waste/toxics reduction.
