Mark Schmitt, general manager of Happy Joe’s on University, has been a gracious partner with Lincoln School. Each year students and staff participate in the Battle of the Books. Mr. Schmitt donates Little Joe’s pizza certificates for all participants and trophies for the winning student and adult battle teams. Mark has offered to be the MC for a number of years, reading the battle questions during this exciting event!

Happy Joe’s has also donated pizzas for our staff during fall conferences. We are thankful and appreciate his ongoing generous support for our staff and students at Lincoln!

Since Happy Joe’s and Lincoln’s parking lots are adjacent to one another, we offer Happy Joe’s the opportunity to use our parking lot during busy evening times and on weekends.

The Dubuque Morning Optimist Club conducts many service projects aimed at providing a helping hand to empower our youth to become the best they can be. They have worked closely with Lincoln and have helped our students through these projects and activities:

  • Volunteer for events at Lincoln such as the Fall Carnival and Lunch & Learn with families
  • Purchase a set of Iowa Children’s Choice Award Books for our Battle of the Books
  • Donate coats, snow pants, hats, and gloves for our students
  • Adopt Lincoln families and provide holiday assistance
  • Partner with the Boys & Girls Club to take Lincoln students holiday shopping
  • Provide tassels and treats for our students and families for our 5th grade promotion
